Cosmopolitanism and the Revenge of Logicalitiness

Or vice versa. Before I write another post complaining about coalition-building within political parties and how this affects true constitutional change, I thought I'd post a link to this article by Jonathan Rauch on the Republican's war on cosmopolitanism, logic, reason, science, and other things now pegged "elitist." Rauch's satire works brilliantly as both comedy and biting commentary.

It feels good to take a breather from the madness.

The masters of appearance. It's a tad scary to witness some of these modes of campaigning actually work on Americans.

Aristotle actually wrote a book on rhetoric (and using logic as its counterpart). He ultimately warns about the dual nature of rhetoric in that it has the power to inspire and mobilize but also the curious power to enslave when one because so allured by words and not deeds of the speaker.

Curious times.
